CIAT Season 2026 in Belgium and the Netherlands – A Look Back in Pictures

During the past season, three wonderful CIAT competitions took place in Nokere, Weert and Oostkerke (Damme), each offering its own unique atmosphere and contribution to the world of traditional driving.

During the past season, three wonderful CIAT competitions took place in Nokere, Weert and Oostkerke (Damme), each offering its own unique atmosphere and contribution to the world of traditional driving.

Through the accompanying photographs, we are delighted to look back on these events, which together made for another memorable season of traditional carriage driving.

Nokere – 11 and 12 July 2026
An exceptional setting for traditional carriage driving

On 11 and 12 July 2026, the CIAT competition took place in Nokere, on the magnificent estate of Baron Casier.

The park surrounding the castle provided a particularly atmospheric setting for both competitors and spectators. Its historic surroundings and beautiful green landscape offered the perfect backdrop, allowing the elegance and authenticity of traditional carriage driving to come fully into their own.

With competitors representing no fewer than seven different countries, the event had a distinctly international character. Including the Spanish judge, a total of eight different nationalities contributed to the success of this competition.

We are already looking forward with great enthusiasm to the next edition!

Weert – 25 July 2026
Hospitality and a passion for authentic carriages

On 25 July 2026, Weert hosted another CIAT competition, held on the grounds of Riny Rutjens, former World Champion in Pair Driving.

As always, competitors, judges and spectators received an exceptionally warm welcome. The entire Rutjens family, including Rodinde Rutjens, the reigning World Champion, ensured a friendly reception and excellent hospitality throughout the event.

The numerous authentic carriages on display, which visitors could admire at close quarters, added a distinctive character to the competition. They provided a wonderful complement to the event and once again highlighted the rich heritage and passion that lie at the heart of traditional carriage driving.

Oostkerke (Damme) – 30 August 2026
Traditional carriage driving up close for the spectators

On 30 August 2026, the CIAT competition in Oostkerke took place at the Oude Zwinhoeve, hosted by Stefaan and Ann.

The event attracted a considerable number of spectators. With the aim of offering the public the best possible experience, particular attention was given to concentrating the various activities and spectacular moments as much as possible in the immediate vicinity of the designated spectator area.

This allowed visitors to admire the horses, carriages and drivers at close range and to fully experience the atmosphere and dynamism of traditional carriage driving.
